Vuvuzela Voodoo?
As millions of Vuvuzelas head for our shores to add yet more decibels of noise to our world, did you know that the Vuvuzela is played in ‘B Flat’!? Is it too much to ask for a variety of Vuvuzela notes, or is that to tempt even greater disturbance? Certainly the message has got through to the football, which is well FLAT!

At Killie games we sometimes have one or two drummers giving it big licks trying to drum up support. Will the new Scottish season be characterised by hundreds of Vuvzelas being blown around Rugby Park & other stadia? It’d be no bad thing to create a bit more atmosphere for games, which can all too easily pass without much chanting or excitement, though these trunk trumpets haven’t done much to improve the beautiful game in South Africa yet! Wooft, Maicon just scored a stoater for Brazil! Hopefully a taste of things to come!

We live in a very noisy world, many prefer some kind of sound around them, whether it be music, the telly or chat. More and more people go to work with their ipods plugged in, avoiding the chance to chat with or listen to someone. Families eat their meals around the box and miss the chance to catch up and commune. Easily the noise of our busyness can drown out the still small voice of God, as he tries to get a word in edge ways.

Professional footballers in World Cup games must listen to their managers and fellow players to play their best amidst the noise and activity. So my question to you and myself is this, “Do I want to hear and listen to our ultimate manager - God?” I certainly know that life is much the richer and more rewarding when I allow God’s Word & Voice to get through my over noisy & busy life.

I actually use a wee hourly ‘vuvuzela’ beep on my watch to call me to listen to God and pray each time it goes off. It’s a constant reminder throughout my day to remember God’s right there beside me. Noise isn’t necessarily the enemy, what’s important is our desire and readiness to tune into God. So, toot all you want!!!
