Nerve Jangling!
I’ve just watched the highlights of the Killie v Falkirk game & I found it almost as nerve wracking as actually being there, with all the last ditch tackles & the plum chance Falkirk had in the last minutes to score & shove us into Division 1. I feel like I’ve been pulled backwards through a hedge, car wash & wringer! Wee Frazer McLaren said it all yesterday in the children’s chat, when asked how the kids were feeling, “Relieved!” There was elation at the final whistle & pitch invasion, & I had the privilege of being club photographer in the absence of Sandy, Killie’s usual snapper. But speaking to staff afterwards, the overriding emotion was ‘relief’! Jobs saved, hope restored, & our community given a chance to pull together in the face of local businesses & factories closing down.

Our hearts go out to Falkirk, despite delight that ‘Elvis has left the building’ with quiff flattened. For me now it’s back down to earth after the challenges of Sunday worship & preaching. Two funerals to prepare for tomorrow & everything is put right back in context. Football is not a matter of life & death, nor more important, whatever Bill Shankly said. Loved ones dying brings home to us the supreme importance of significant relationships, not least with God, who helps us to face the ups, downs, swings & roundabouts of life. May you know God’s Love in your life, hope in your hearts & that you’ll never walk alone!

How about a coffee (or pint!) sometime soon - would appreciate help to discuss the odd idea or two...
