Killie’s Divine Right?
Sadly Killie do not have a divine right to stay in the Scottish Premier League, but they do have their destiny this season still in their hands. Might the Killie chaplain get sacked ‘for not praying hard enough’? Alas, many have this mixed up view that my role as a football chaplain is to pray for the success of the team. Fortunately others know that what I really do (gratis) behind the scenes, is provide a pastoral safety net & support for the players, backroom staff, & others who work for the club. I certainly pray God’s Best for them all & spur them on to do their 110% very best, but I’m not a witch doctor summoning special powers & extra luck for my team over & against other teams. After all Falkirk & St Mirren both have chaplains too! Whatever the outcome of the relegation battle, I’ll be getting alongside folk to support them in it. It’s a privilege to be involved with KFC in this way!

Can I remind you that we are all called to be chaplains in our work places & neighbourhoods? Each one of us is called to be a part of the ‘pastorhood of all believers’, with caring hearts, listening ears, & willing hands, ready to be a pastoral safety net to our colleagues & neighbours, ready to point them to our glorious Saviour & Boss, Jesus Christ. Whether in the premier league, first division, or lower divisions, come what may, we are to be there as channels for God’s Help, Hope & Peace.

God’s Best to & through us all! & before I go, “’MON THE KILLIE!!!!!!”
