Fullarton Youth and Community (YaC). The Youth and Community Project is an initiative of Fullarton Parish Church. It aims to work alongside local community groups, churches, school, and parents etc to provide activities for the young people within the area. Our main aim is to support young people throughout the key transition stages through life. These can be anything from moving from primary to secondary school, changes in family structure and what to do when leaving school. The activities that we provide come as a result of young people expressing an interest and then working alongside them to organise the activity. We believe that it is important to emphasise the importance of the young peoples’ voice within the community. By putting value on their opinions and ideas this in turn increases their self-esteem as well as their trust in us.
We place a high value on allowing young people to take the lead role where they can with us only providing support and guidance where required. For example our Foundations group works on building on practical skills in being a leader and they then use these skills to lead their youth group (No Limits) for 10 - 15 year olds.
