Community: Fullarton Health House

In 1988 Fullarton residents observed signs of air pollution from nearby industrial sites. They had also noticed that many residents suffered poor health. With pressure from Fullarton residents in November 1988, Strathclyde Regional Council set up a Social Strategy sub-group to investigate health within the area. As a result of this, by autumn 1989, the Community Health House was established and has imaginatively abd fruitfully served the area ever since through health education.

Their aim is "the preservation and protection of the good health, both physical and mental, of those within the Fullarton area" and to provide appropriate services and facilities for the purpose of social welfare so that the condition of life of said inhabitants may be improved. In 2006 Fullarton Church were happy to present FCHH with an "Excellent Service in the Community" award for their healthy contribution to our neighbourhood. Fullarton Community Association
The Community Association, with its hall, kitchen and lounge, provides a range of community activities for residents of the Fullarton area. The association has developed effective partnership working with the local Greenbank and Fullarton Nursing Homes, Loudoun-Montgomery Primary School and Fullarton Parish Church.

The Fullarton Community Association, Fullarton Health House and Fullarton Church together form a helpful triangle of interest and investment in the people and community of Fullarton of which we're proud. We continue to pray that our partnership together will lead to even greater community spirit and co-operation leading to the greater wellbeing of Fullarton residents of all ages.
