Neil UrquhartHi! I’m Neil Urquhart, since August 1989 leading pastor of Fullarton. Slowly, but surely, our ministry and mission team (ie the congregation) are growing in love and vision - "It's a marathon, not a sprint!" God treasures us all, so we try to value one another highly, likewise the people whom we rub shoulders with every day. I find myself being challenged more and more to lead my flock to be salt and light in their various worlds.

My own chaplaincies at Kilmarnock Football Club, our local Asda, Homeless Hostel and schools have encouraged me to see the working world more and more as a vital place for the church to be active, the Body of Christ at work. Our Youth and Community Project and Church Buildings dream (we’re exploring the possibility of knocking our C-listed buildings down to purpose build a new centre for church & community) reflect this desire to show God's love to all people. Wherever Christians are during the week is where the church is - ie A Church Without Walls.

Roots: Born in Nigeria on 29/04/62, I was brought up in the faith by my Christian mum and at 10 committed my life to Christ. Married to a superb lass Dorothy (21/05/88) we have 3 children: Sandy (dob - 2/08/90), Amy (20/02/92) & Zoe (6/04/95). My schooling was in Largs, I worked in a Greenock bank, studied at Aberdeen and Edinburgh, served in Tiberias, Israel (volunteer) and at Chryston, Glasgow (assistant minister), was Pastor in Residence for 4 months at Regent College, Vancouver, and played soccer for Scotland (on our PlayStation!). Presently Eugene Peterson, Philip Yancey, Henri Nouwen and Dan Kimball are my favourite spiritual writers.

Interests: When I'm not working or spending time with my family, I enjoy five-a-side football, golf, cycling, photography, watching movies, and music (U2, Van Morrison, Arctic Monkeys, Muse & Co.). I love curries, hate car repairs and DIY, support Killie (and Morton), watch ER and 24, read thriller novels, and admire politicians who can publicly say, "Sorry".

Kingdom, not Kirk! Here at Fullarton we have a heart for the Kingdom of God, which transcends denominational divisions and bulldozes barriers of race, class and age! Church success is not to be measured in how many members you have, rather in the quality of loving relationships. By the grace of God and in the power of His Spirit, we try to help one another glimpse the awesome God who loves us deeply and dearly through the birth, life, death, resurrection, ascension and continuing ministry of His Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

A prayer for you:
If you know God, may you grow in His Love;
If you're truly seeking God, may you find in Him your all;
If you aren't interested in finding God, may you be found in His love.
AMEN
