DRUG PROOF YOUR KIDS This course works!
Praise God!
We have run 3 ‘How to Drug Proof Your Kids’ courses so far, which aim to help parents
and other adults communicate and build better relationships with kids, with a view to
steering them away from drug and substance abuse.

After the course, in fact from the first week on, people say they have better conversations
with children and find the children choose to come and talk with them more often.
They also report being more confident on up to date facts about drug and alcohol abuse,
it’s effects and how to come out of addiction.
The course is based on building family relationships, something we all need to do, so it’s a
course for EVERYONE INVOLVED WITH CHILDREN. We’d like to see Grandfathers and
Grandmothers, Aunties and Uncles, Dads, Mums, Step Dad’s and Step Mums, carers and
child minders.

The course is aimed at adults dealing with children 8 years and up, but
parents of 25 year olds have found it helpful.
It’s not just a prevention tool, the course also covers practical steps for recognising and
getting out of addiction and staying free.
During an evening there are varied activities; small group discussion, short DVD’s, trying
out new ideas of how to talk and listen to children, learning the techniques that help
prevent addiction, plenty of interaction. We also find the group supports one another as
we go through the training.

The course runs for 6 weeks of 2 hour sessions. The next one starts on the 27th April, after
Easter, 7 -9 p.m. Tuesdays in the Fullarton Community Centre.

We would like to run another course in the autumn. It could be a different day,or in the
daytime, if that suits folk better. If anyone gets 6 friends/work mate/neighbours together
we’d be happy to come and present it in your home.

The course costs £15 per person,
without charging for the hall rent.
